From what I have noticed. On a T6.1 if you idle, or rev it to 2000 rpm whilst stationary, in the middle of a regen cycle, it will abort after 5-7 minutes. If you need the regen to finish, have to move the van a few meters forward and back after few minutes of being stationary. All the ECU look...
...at a destination was to wait until the revs drop down to normal (ie 800rpm), then a few seconds longer. The van has now stopped doing the regen, so safe to switch off. On the next journey the van will CONTINUE its regen (it wont start from scratch again as it will have reduced the soot level...
...close to 60g, oil ash 85g).
The glow plug light is flashing and the engine management light is on. Significant loss of power.
I can't force a regen... I think the DPF is now too full and I guess the flashing glow plug light is preventing the regen happening.
But my question is......
What...
Get a carista Dongle, and vag dpf.
Regen signs will include, raised revs from 850 to around 9:50 or just under a thousand RPM.
Slight burning smell from outside that comes from the exhaust being very hot.
Fans running after engine off chaos if you are midway through a regen, to keep air...
Great on IPhone
Two fixes if you haven’t sorted it …. Contact the app developer he does respond
Or try it on setting 7 not 1
Used it last night and ended up at home for ten minutes running while regen finished … great to know when it’s due for a regen while planning your journey
that's the accepted wisdom, but I usually don't as you don't know how far into the process the regen is. If you interrupt the cycle before it ends, it starts from scratch the next time the van starts.
...cold and it is now above the maximum.
I checked my carista and using the iPhone dpf monitor for vag app (see attached) and it looks like a regen was completed whilst I was driving home.
So now what do I do about the oil level, it’s due a service and MOT which I can book after the bank...
If the van was switched off while doing a regen, it will restart on the next drive cycle and complete.... It will get the engine up to temperature very quickly.
A1. Possibly. Clear as suggested and monitor. Keep the VW appointment and if the fault doesn't come back cancel the appointmment the day before.
A2. A1 covers this.
A3. Regens will continue.
My conclusions are:
The boost leak and subsequent repeat regens was not caused by completing a cycle while stationary.
A boost leak and/or a knackered intercooler will affect your DPF operation.
Very interesting........The remap and adblue/EGR delete were done 1131 miles ago, so its regenned 10 miles after and never again!
I was sure I had checked distance travelled since last regen and it was around 60 kms but that was about 500 miles ago so I've potentially been looking a failed...
Here's my advice.
Suck it all out.
Add back 7 litres.
Pray to a god while you wait for the van to do a regen.
Come back and praise me when it resets. 😂
