Recently taken off my T32…4x Sportline alloy wheels with Toyo wheels (255/45/r18 103y) over 5mm tread across all tyres and even wear. No curb rash, but the dreaded white worm has got under the lacquer. £700

They look amazing My alloys are similar with the black finish and polished face. I love the look but 2 years in the dreaded white worm is starting. What did you have done to them and how much did it cost.

As Ali states, OK physically on the rear unless its a 4motion. If you have a front puncture you'd have to play musical wheels, unless you were only going a few hundred yards. However, the legality would be questionable at best, so try and avoid running anyone over with it on the van as that...

I remember a few years back that a few members on the Golf GTI forum had wheels replaced under warranty due to 'white worm'. Recently similar claims have been rejected.

Welcome. Those tyre and wheel offsets will be fine, unless are you lowered more than 70mm. Polished wheels are more susceptible to white worm. I’d go for the painted finish. Be sure to post up some photos.

T6 isn't especially unreliable by modern standards. This one's got 200k under its wheels and we dont really know how it's been treated. T5 may or may not be a safer bet, but they dont drive as nicely and you may be opening up an age related can or worms instead. You cant afford to be too...

Hi, yes that’s what I was thinking. I think they’re a great looking rim but the dreaded “wheel worm” puts me off getting the polished version. I still haven’t tracked down what make it could be.
