Hey n10b, it’s been doing it since before I changed the EGR plus new reinforced pipe. I could smell it in the cab sometimes.
Now no more smell and CO meter shows reading of zero.
I don’t have heated windscreen.
It doesn’t handle badly but these stock shocks aren’t factory fresh with 145,000km...
So, I am getting the diesel exhaust fume smell in the cab and very strong when I stick my head under the bonnet. My van appears to have the new shape rear pipe.
How easy is it to diagnose a cracked pipe (front or rear)? should you see smoke, be able to feel gas being puffed out? I have had my...
...my complaint. I shall buy the genuine parts and get them fitted. My engine has not done a regen for a long time and I am guessing this is due to the egr issue. No fault lights showing. Van runs great apart from the fumesincab! Commiserations to the the 1000s who must be in the same position.
The videos I have seen have often shown the crack on the underside (not visible) so just wondered how best to spot.
I didn't think I could smell fumesin the cab, but I walked past an idling diesel car today and it smelled particularly bad and I realised that hints of what I could smell matched...
...modified increase the exhaust gas flow.
Plus check for split EGR pipes at the flexible bellows, you’ll see photos here EGR flexi-pipe: Exhaust FumesInCab, Hissing From Engine Bay.
Plus as I asked on post #2. Can you smell exhaust gases in the cab or under the bonnet with the engine running?
trying spotting leaks. HTe smell of exhaust fumesin the engine bay and also in the cab when the fan is on is pretty high. is there anywhere else exhaust gases can leak from? No leak obvious when trying to locate earlier. Would it be a good idea to remove it, inspect, and - if no fualt found...
I am looking at the rear egr valve (as best I can) It looks like it it is the new style pipe (fatter with the rough rather than smooth exterior). Whereas the front pipe looks pretty shiny (as does the egr valve) the back pipe is dark brown/black colour. I think I am getting fumesin the cab...
Recently the Caravelle 150PS 2015 T6 engine management light came on. Luckily my brother has a bodyshop and I put the van on his Autel machine.
Here I presume lies the problem
I also get exhaust fumesin the cab and my local garage has said there is a split in the concertina pipe which is...
Maybe it has been ‘split’ because it’s blocked? Putting a gash in it would relieve the back pressure. I can’t imaging it splitting by itself, the engine would stop running before the pressure got high enough to split the casing.
I’m surprised you can smell exhaust fumesin the cab I would have...
Has anyone had this issue with CFCA engine, had new engine ,turbo and DPF fitted 4000 miles ago ,all been running well ,then today the dreaded fumesin the cab started ,got back it was like the engine was on fire coming out of the front grill .Can a split in the EGR pipe cause this ?
Hi I had a split egr rear pipe and my T6 was out of warranty I spoke directly to VW Head Office to explain the situation and to bring it to there attention that it was a safety issue as fumes where entering the Cab and I was really happy that they agreed to do it for free under warranty.
I’m very surprised and doubtful that an EGR cooler could have restricted flow at just 20K miles. There is no EGR light, the warning light that’s being referred to covers many potential faults.
There is no way that the new EGR could have restricted flow after 7K miles or the several months period...
