Did the EGR get replaced?
My money is on problems with that.
The EGR needed replaced on my T5.1 which gives the problems you described and after it died for the 3rd time I had it mapped out of the ecu and the vans never ran better since. That was a few years back.
Mine same a couple of weeks ago with service and MOT - failed for split EGR pipe - MOT description said putting exhaust fumes in cab - so I’m glad they spotted it - I thought it was just doing a regen as did a lot of them before as short journeys then a few longer - funny now does not do as many!
Yes, it does!

Fault codes are low fuel pressure and 02 sensor.
Before the new map fault code was overboost. Which mapper told me immediately it was a problem with the map.
You would be cheaper getting the EGR mapped out of your ecu.
I did this on my T5.1 works van after the EGR failed for the 3rd time.
My van runs great without it.
Isnt this a 04L145749M more a EGR cooler??? Meaning when superhot EGR cooler overloads in idle the 04L145749M cooler takes over some cooling functions ...?
So what 04L145749M is "cooling" 120C hot air with 90C coolant fluid inside the 04L145749M? ??? thx
Have you had the EGR flushed by VW?
While I'll admit I'm not a fan of what sounds like a bit of farting around and hoping but I had the EGR flushed under warranty within the year when I first got the camper back in 2019 (used 2017 van conversion).
At that point it had done about 38k miles, this...
I thought it would be a good idea to collate some info from owners that have remapped vans and/or deleted components like EGR, DPF etc.
There is lots of info that pops up on I individual threads and I think we need a place to talk first hand info from owners to help others that are thinking...
...who has listened to it has been sure the sound is coming from the intake area so a lot of my time has been spent on that however it appears my EGR could be at fault. I’ve just done an output test on the egr and when it activates the sound goes then as it deactivates the sound comes back.
Any...
sounds great . . .
i dont suppose you have a ton of pics to show us all?
totaly in agreement that the EGR should be able to be fully flushed and cleaned. .
just didnt know if the cooling tubes could be unblocked well enough?
sure the valve and actuator should clean up well enough.
the VW...
...1/2hr returned to the vehicle to find the engine management light on. I connected VCDS to find the following warning:-
2 Faults Found:

P046C 00 [11101101] - Implausible Signal
MIL ON - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

That's just remembered me, I actually have the Tafmet kit and when I changed the oil last week, I plugged the kit in hoping that would help. Just need to fit the blanking plates if everything checks out
Hi, I know it’s been gone over a few times now but my 2015 150 t32 has just had its 3rd replacement Egr valve and cooler. That means they are lasting about 30,000 miles each. Yes I know about cheap fuel and yes I use additives. It’s not over fuelling and not using oil. It’s just a pants...
Hi,
I gave in and took the van to a local independent who confirmed a sticking turbo. It is now getting a new turbo, EGR cooler/valve and a DPF flush.
The sticking had become a hard fault thus not allowing the DPF to regenerate. This in turn meant the DPF error light on the dash board came on...
