No. If you stop the engine whilst it is doing a regen then it will leave extra unburnt diesel in the cylinders. This then drains past the piston rings and cause fuel dilution of the engine oil. Better to go for a drive until the regen stops or at least to wait until the revs drop to a normal...
Don't know the details about A6 but e.g. T6 doesn't finish DPF regen at standstill...

...live with it, and make a point of manually checking my oil weekly or before a long journey.
3. The least common scenario is genuine oildilution. It does happen, but genuinely rising oil levels instead of 1 or 2 above is fairly unusual. Faulty injectors, the peculiarities of regens and...
...or 0.5% which isn't.
I like the way they urge you to retest so they get another payday.
The overfill light is a common issue on these units and it is almost always not related to oildilution - mine certainly wasn't. Make yourself a cuppa and do a forum search.
PS - my side windows don't...
my point is, although it is difficult to make while I laugh so much, is that diesel dilution of the oil is not "unheard of" or "crazy". lots of people have suffered it, really.
I had this oil too high issue over a year ago whilst on a 200 mile trip up north to have my solar panel replaced. Following the advice on that youtube video above, I bought a £10 siphon pump from my local Karparts place and pulled out 400 ml of oil through the dipstick tube. My oil too high...
You don’t, safe to say that there will have been some dilution and as 2% is the safe limit who knows. Fuel dilution will probably kill the turbocharger and oil control rings before anything else.
If the top end had excessive wear it would be noisy all the time and probably more so when the oil...
Sounds like excess fuel, if it’s on start up most likely a leaking injector.
The excess fuel will be washing the bore, diluting the oil, clogging the EGR / induction and damaging the DPF. Don’t run it in this condition.
A garage should be able to diagnose this.
Miller oil analysis, about £50, will give the fuel dilution and other contaminants in the oil. Data entered in the test info’ must be accurate.
Syringe and 1.5m of hose that will fit down the dipstick is needed to take the sample.
You need to check the oil level yourself when you get this warning. If the level has risen, then your oil is being diluted with diesel, which is not good for the engine.
If the oil level has not risen, then it’s more likely to be a software issue.

I had a JLR product that I had to service every 6 months because of oildilution, so not just VW’s. We gave up in the end, and embraced 1 x dealer service and 1 x non dealer oil change a year.
Really hope I don’t run into this with the 6.1 as well!
The oil is being diluted by either coolant (very unlikely) or diesel (very likely).
There is a good deal of information on oildilution, it's not uncommon and nor is it just a VW issue, it's plagued a lot of JLR Euro6 diesel engines too...
I can’t see a failed DMF causing this rough running, it’s a misfire, if there is any DMF noise it’s as @mmi stated in post #10.
My advice is not to run the engine at all in this condition, I don’t see much improvement over the length of the posted video. If an injector is delivering fuel without...
all diesel engines used for little mileage will dilute the oil in the sump with diesel. I would change oil every 6 months. However engine not up to temperature will not help with dpf. Starting euro 6 you ll have oil diluted in the sump, clogged dpf, egr failure due to not warming up enough the...
It might be reasonably benign right now if it's the classic short runs causing partial regens but that process dilutes the oil (hence why the engine thinks there is too much in) and does long term damage.
At the very least I'd be insisting on a full oil service to replace any contaminated oil...
In all seriousness it's more like an onion bhaji smell and when you're hungry makes you want to eat the seat cushions.:geek:
Regarding the diesel being dumped into the sump it's worth bearing in mind the engine oil is being diluted so not safe to simply decant the resultant syrup as eventually...
Wasn’t the 2.7v6 diesel with crankshaft issues?
Euro6 tdv6 and 2.0 diesel euro 6 all suffer from oildilution in the sump and consequent dpf issue Problem never solved by jaguar/Landrover.
I have sold my Jag 20d after 16k miles. Light on the dash every 2k miles, oil and filter change. They have...
Cheers dude. It’s driving me nuts. I followed the video and thought I’d cracked it yesterday. Need to spend a bit of time sorting tomorrow again. This van! At least my wheels and tyres are now sorted lol.
