So I have a slight update, diagnostic tool shows no faults. The van requires a new SOS Module and this will cost £860 + VAT!!! However it appears that some magic can be done on software to delete it removing the error. I'm hopeful this will work. I will update so people who have the same issue...
...no sound or listening to Vernon Kay   Much Google searching suggests doing resets, disconnects etc etc or could be an issue with the SOS system ... The previous owner of my van appears to have misjudged a height restriction one time and the SOS box got ripped off so it could be...
Hi all, recently changed my head unit and sos warning light on the dash permanently on,I seen a post about this a while back about it being coded out.
I'm here in Ireland (west) was wondering if any one over here had same problem ond got it sorted, also wondering if it would pass DOE/NCT with the...
It's been back in today for the fitter to look at it and they don't really know what the issue is.
They think the SOS is interfering with DAB reception and / or possible some interference from the loom adapter.
They're going to speak to the loom manufacturer and Alpine and get back to me...
Everybody here has got past the loading profile page. I've tried hard reset, sos button, type c keyboard and mouse, repeatedly reconnecting to Bluetooth and phone cable but nothing.... It's now 5 weeks and it's never got past the loading profile. Zero radio, zero anything.
Also is there any evidence of the the 4G/LTE modem working?
Do you have the correct lights on the SOS module overhead? If you go into the settings can you get to things like the shop or data plans?
Reason I ask is there is a smattering of folks having issues with the SOS module or modem.
Yes exactly this. Make sure green light is on the SOS panel above head first which will confirm there is a connection from the unit itself.
That was my original issue that was identified with this post.
I had the same issue but mine started before the Skyline pop top was fitted. It seems to be a loose connection in the overhead panel or thereabouts. Mine seems to have "gone away" for now but occasionally it returns... like when I pushed on the top centre of the windscreen, in order to stick my...
Hi, I live near Newport south wales, has anyone got any recommendations for a non dealer garage for some work now (sos button malfunction, too much oil warning light) and servicing in future? Have found places in llantrissant and Cardiff but looking for something closer to home. Thanks
There's also more chance of electrical gremlins down the line with the 6.1 that will end up costing: Infotainment units / Sos control units failing.
Personally, the 6 is better build quality.. the 6.1 just inherits the 6's issues with more thrown in.
Issue resolved!
I had contacted vw customer services, they asked me to send photos of the unit and the sos unit, they noticed there was no light on my sos unit, which meant a trip to my local vw garage.
They replaced my faulty sos unit (Unit + fitting 100% covered on goodwill, which is...
Tried my best to avoid but head on, I was ok, van looked after me , SOS kicked straight in , and even arranged the police
Yes written off, 26k plus vat to put it right , then vehicle hire was 9.5K plus vat
I have the SOS Error Emergency Call Workshop error too.
Took it to my local VAG garage and the diagnostics suggest it needs a new unit for £1,500. There was no outstanding software update that needed to be loaded, and they even tried to force an update by saying a new unit had already been...
