T6 180 using oil and compression down on 1 cylinder :-(

...of time, after a short drive it would have excessive burnt oil smoke from the exhaust. Subsequently, the garage decided it would be bore/piston rings or valve stem oil seals. they compression checked it dry, and then put some oil in the bore, thus confirming it was bore and not valve stem...

    MOT history

...to change them. Coilsprings snap surprisingly often now days. Nothing too concerning there. Oil leak, most likely crank oil seal. Lot's of info on here. Mine weeps a bit. If not excessive not something that would concern me. Again easy to visually check if excessive and needs rectification...

What's the service interval for the vw wet belt oil pump?

All of the Volkswagen T6 diesel engines. (And previous engines I'd imagine but I'd have to check) But before you get excited no it's not the timing belt ie the Ford wet belt issues. This is the oil pump drive belt that's fed from the sump. You can see it in the video clips above it's behind...

    5 speed Gearbox oil change

I’m planning to change the gearbox oil on my 2017 5 speed T6. I spoke to TPS and they couldn’t confirm the quantity of oil required as “it’s sealed for life sir”. I believe it’s 2L for the 5 speed. Can anyone confirm? Also TPS want circa £40 a litre for said oil. Does anyone know the exact...

Expensive week. Warranty oil leak claim refused under extended

When my first crank seal went the van was repaired under manufacturer 5 year extended warranty. This included belt, pump, tensioners and oil even though my belt wasn't due at that point, the cost that I saw was £750ish, but they covered the whole cost. When the replacement seal failed outside...

Hi all, Just a quick one for those that use mann oil filters, wanting to know if this one I have bought might be fake? Come across a bit online about fake filters I had originally been using ryco but read mixed reviews so thought I'd try something different next oil change. Main thing I'm...

2017 204 oil consumption issues [Resolved]

My 204 would use a dipstick length, about 1L every 8000 kms. It then dropped suddenly to approx 1 litre every 4500kms. There was always a bit of oil seeping out the orange boost pipe going into the charge cooler but noticed it would get heavier. I'm sure the problem was a turbo seal...

    DSG end seal leak

Read a few posts on here about a DSG oil leak and don’t think its been covered, doesn’t look like the bolt one, unless you guys have a picture of the bolt location. Attached are the pics of the DSG and obviously position of the leak, I think its the rubber seal that’s just above the engine...

    Tandem pump pipe broken?

Did you forget to add the link to the video? :slow rofl: You meantion the seals inside may be leaking; is this something you think can be fixed with a gasket repair kit? In all honesty I would love nothing more than to just throw a new pump on and be done with it but I cannot. Thanks for the help!

    Slow crank

You can have 12V in a battery but nowhere near the power to crank a diesel engine. Eg: a little scooter battery would never start a van. And yes, cold weather will reveal issues with an unhealthy battery. You could try putting the battery on a decent reconditioning charger. Get the battery load...

    Fault code P0299 Boost - 2019 Crafter

I’ve got a 2018 crafter 177bhp with what sounds like an identical issue. It’s been to several VW specialist and the furthest they got was to replace the n75 solenoid with no avail. Our van also has a stage 1 remap. The fault has been so intermittent that the mechanics have struggled to pinpoint...

    How good are the Caristas?

The gearbox oil was just topped up to full 3 weeks ago. If that was leaking they probably would have flagged that up I assume, so not 100% sure. Would oil still be wettish from an oil change 3 weeks ago if it got on those components? They empty it around that area don't they? (I'm guessing by...
