Good shout on the oil analysis, i'll get that done to see the state of play. Luckily I live close to Retro Resus who I gather is an expert on all things VW but will also do some digging on Dark side Developments.
We have DSG on the van & on our family car. They both regularly get put into manual & knocked down a couple of gears on the motorway, & get an “Italian tune up”
Some blow-by is normal, however that does look excessive.
You don’t mention the oilconsumption rate?
You can get an idea of engine wear by completing an oil analysis, make sure the data entered is 100% correct. You’ll need a small syringe and some flexible tubing to fit down the dipstick tube...
VW dealers oilconsumption testing will take an age and if they think it uses more than 1L on 1000km they'll tell you it will need a new engine.
Some of us have now discovered it might not be the engine that's causing the oil usage it could be the turbo that's failing so swapping the engine...
So if the dpf has clogged up at least once resulting in the need to have it cleaned out professionally would you be blocking and deleting the EGR on a 204 T6?
...during summer were with previous oil which I have not much info about as service was done at the previous owner yet. No excessiveoilconsumption though potentially be caused by too thin oil doing subpar job on lubricating engine parts as well as clogging up DPF causing more frequent regens...
...to rectify the cause(s) of the clogging before installing or the new one will end up trashed as well. Don’t buy a used spare as somebody else did recently.
Excessiveoilconsumption, excessive fuelling / poor combustion, short journeys without a completed re-gen are some of the causes of...
If its blanked off it physically can't then let debris into the air path but if its already been doing that some damage may be done.
excessiveoilconsumption is one of the signs.
you have to make sure the dpf is functioning correctly before you worry about the oilconsumption. Known issue (and my van was doing this) is dpf is blocked and the unspent fuel was topping up the oil = no oilconsumption on the dip-stick, reality is the oil is being diluted by fuel and causing...
...items.
Get some oil out of the engine asap and send for oil analysis. Order direct from Millers Oils. Their response on aluminium in the oil will be conclusive if aluminium oxide has cause premature wear of the bores and the excessiveoilconsumption. On that note, how much oil is it using?
All right, a follow-up. I post it here in case this is helpful or anyone sees any red flags in the communications with VW... It is a 204 BiTurbo 4 motion LWB T6 with a CXEB engine and about 65000 miles. I noticed an increase in oilconsumption in August while driving back from France but did not...
...that 0.5L per 1000km then its a fail and repair required.
the repair is :
new Long Block Engine ( Block, pistons, crank, head, cams etc )(but not accessories like EGR, Turbo etc)
new CAT,
new DPF,
new Lamda probe.

CXEB excessiveoilconsumption . . over 0.5L per 1000km

I had something similar with my old 2006 2.0 TDi Passat. It went through oil like nobody's business and was constantly doing regens and showing the clogged DPF symbol. In the end it was burnt out piston rings which I was informed could have been the result of running low on oil or putting petrol...
What is the engine code, 4 consecutive letters found in the engine number on the V5 registration document?
Excessiveoilconsumption will also require replacement of the DPF which should have been included in the quote for 20K.
As @Lubrown mentioned labour is a big factor in the cost, there are...
Thought I’d better clarify, if the excessiveoilconsumption is caused by failed oil control (scraper) piston rings it won’t show low pressures on a compression test.
The compression test may reveal worn cylinders and /or piston rings.
...burning oil, is a smoking gun for 'EGR disintegration' bore wear, and as normal, absolutely no symptoms apart from sudden excessiveoilconsumption.
The chances of finding a good low mileage CFCA is very low, the chances of being fobbed off with a totally knackered one is very high so avoid...
Most likely it's the clogged DPF which triggers the DPF regeneration - because based on measured pressure loss across the DPF ECU decides DPF needs to be cleaned. Some plots were here.
