Blue smoke is burning oil.
If it had been blue smoking badly after a cold start I’d say it was probably worn / hardened valve seals.
Try taking one of the bottom hoses off the intercooler and see how much oil drains out.
If there is oil present it’s either from excessive oil carry over via PCV...
There are three possibilities for the lost oil path assuming it is not an external leak or worn valve seals.
External oil leak - very easy to eliminate by visual check.
Worn valve seals - highly unlikely unless a very high milage / old van and even then the quantity lost would be less than you...
Thanks for that. It has recently developed the weeping flywheel bolts issue but the bottom of the engine and gearbox is just damp with oil. It cant be the missing 1 or litres though. No oil underneath the van and only a damp patch on the under trays. I'll feel better once the oil analysis done...
...as it came with limited history and when inspected it looked way older than a year I decided to do it to be safe.
Genuine parts used, crank oilseal and oil pump belt done at the same time as heard a few horror stories re the oil pump belts with them being a wet belt.
Oilseal was leaking as...
An update on pricing with regards to seal replacement...
2016 T6 204 Kombi
Owned from new, had mine done under warranty about 2 years (18k) into ownership.
Current in for service and DSG oil change, call from VW saying it's leaking (again at 55k), quoted £1589.34 for seal only. Yes that's...
FWIW . . .
I've had both changed under warranty,
front lower engine mount and front main crankshaft oilseal,
and EGR+cooler, and EGR rear pipe
plus a DMF - twice.

I wouldn’t expect a valve seal to be passing oil at that age / milage.
I guess you’ve done the other 180ps CFCA checks before considering the valve seals?
And how much is the workshop hourly rate? They can't sack or disciple the tech cause they pay them a pittance and tell him to cut corners. But they are the SPECIALISTS not.
So, I changed the oil switch on the filter housing along with a new oil pressure regulating valve from local vw dealership, and good news, fault has gone.
Interesting to see, the new regulating valve is a different design altogether, to note, sealing o ring weirdly is in a different place, with...
I was lucky. At least so far…
The parts were impossible to get and those that I managed to source ended up being the wrong ones (even after providing gearbox codes, reg, vin number ).
The mechanic got into the mechatronic unit to find parts not compatible. The silver lining was that he also...
Pela oil extraction pumps use a rigid nylon tube down the dipstick tube.
I’d measure the dipstick tube internal diameter (poss the diameter of the dipstick where the O ring seal is??) and get on ebay for a meter of nylon tube that’ll clear.
You might get away with inserting the tube and...
-- Vans now booked back into original garage for "oil leak - front main seal" --
....
so booked the van back in to the garage that done the Crankshaft seal. . .
well - what a mare !!!
dropped it off - but pre-booked hire van from 6weeks ago isn't available !!
45mins later they agree to...
Oil leaks not covered, but you may get lucky if dealer gives you a goodwill gesture.
I had to pay for a new cambelt kit and water pump and VW paid for the seal and labour. Not ideal, but gives me some peace of mind that new parts are fitted and not re-used items.
They can inspect the belt in 10 minutes, any oil contamination will be obvious. If it’s not an excessive leak and belt is clean I would wait with the oilseal until the timing belt renewal is due.
61k - Engine oil leak ( front main crankshaft seal ) - FOC under warranty

front crankshaft oilseal replaced - warranty (oil leak)
this was highlighted when looking at the power steering rack low oil above.
this was visible from behind the drivers side...
It says the following in the all in warranty docs.....
I guess this is why. Basically they're saying they will cover seals if they need replacing as part of another job but wont cover the seal failing on its own.
...for a service and that led to a big list of things that needed changing, all common things but frustrating none the less.
Front Crank Main oilseal
PAS Pump
Aux Belt tensioner
Front engine mount
All of this is now done but it definitely took me a but of time to do all the work.
I had a nice...
