There is no EGR light. There is no link between the DMF and EGR. A blocked EGR won’t create any noise. For a diagnosis the starting point is to read any fault codes, have a Search with ‘Carista’

what does a cfca egr mean, is that different from a standard? excuse my ignorence as i don't know

...when the fault occurred. Could be air leak, sticky actuator, wrongly calibrated actuator when installed, vacuum leak to actuator, faulty vacuum solenoid, faulty pressure sensor.... Or something indirectly related - wrong air mass reading, sticky EGR, blocked EGR, DPF,... That's strange...

With all the really useful info on here I think I am definitely going to go for EGR blanking and delete for my T6. Any suggestions for where to get it done in Sussex?

...got back and the light stayed on. Ordered a carista so am waiting for that to arrive today but reading here and elsewhere I’m guessing it’s the egr. Anything to check or hints etc while I’m waiting? Will see what the code reader says, but even if not egr I’m tempted to replace the egr...

EGR map out and block on an old BiTDI 180 and now anew engine and turbo's for 7k miles with no issues. EGR work shouldnt be noticed in an MOT. When the DPF needs replacing that will go and be mapped out.

We would turn all the functions of for the egr and map the egr closed permanently this allows you to blank it completely too so you would recieve with the Tool Stg1 / level 1 tune and EGR Delete in the software.

Hi, I just removed the corrugated pipe leaving the egr valve. It had water laying in it, enough to completely soak a sheet of kitchen role. It wasn't pink like my coolant, which is strange. It seemed to be too much for condensate. Should the egr valve be dry and sooty at all times?

I got the EGR mapped out of my T5.1 works van after it failed for the 3rd time. Best thing I did. Has run great for years after and it’s got 179k miles on it.

If your egr is deleted and blanked off then the codes will go away together with all your egr problems. Since mine was done my dpf regens have been same as before. I don’t do many short journeys though.

My T6 is ex trade (AA) and now on 145k miles and to my knowledge the EGR hasn't been replaced. Im not worried because EGR issues stem mainly from short journeys I believe so trade vans (depending on the trade) will do lots of long journeys/motorway miles where they can get it nice and hot
