Jan 2018 (67 plate) - CXEB - 204 - SWB.
I had my van in for a new EGR valve, headlight levelling sensor and sporadic "oil sensor: workshop" warning, with the auto stop/start not working when this flagged up. The auto stop/start I'm assuming errors because of the oil sensor.
When it went in, I...
@mmi is there anything I can do in VCDS to get live reading from the oillevel/temperature sensor to work out if it's working OK and it is the instrument cluster?
I've been looking through the blockmap data and it seems there's a lot of information available, I'm just not sure what I should be...
Wayne is wise. Examples of 6's or 6.1's with positively confirmed oil dilution issues are rare indeed.
Oil has quite a high coefficient of expansion, and combined with sensors of questionable design and software that may not be up to the job (even the revised software often fails to fix the...
2 years ago now I had the 'oil too high' issue on my 6.1, I panicked thinking the end is nigh! I sent a sample off to Millers to do the anal antics and had an oil change too for good measure.
Millers report gave me nothing to worry about, in my case it was purely oil expansion. The light came on...
hello.
No problem. Thank you for your reply. After your message, I drained some oil (but not too much, about 200ml) from the engine over the weekend. Actually, the level dropped only slightly. Perhaps not enough to be noticeable. I should have drained a little more, but since I used a syringe...
Yes, normal. Some details below - especially pictures 2 and 3.

Same soot level as my 180ps without an EGR then.
I think the normal 10K or 12K miles oil services are not frequent enough at least on a BiTurbo T6 due to the high boost pressure and resulting soot level.
I’ll be changing the oil and filter at 7K intervals.
Fuel dilution seems to be a common issue, 2% caution level, 4% alert level. Results in sub-standard lubrication on what is a fairly highly tuned diesel engine
Hi Sasquatch thanks for the advice. In regards to points 1 & 2 I have had these checked, oil dumped out and replaced with new to a level lower than the high mark. After which the same issue reoccurred and the warning light came on again. I manually checked the oillevel and it was high. I’ll...
I bought something very similar to this siphon kit, it worked to remove 400ml plus to take the level of oil to half way up/down the crosshatching on the dipstick. Following another oil change service, oil was filled again to the top of the dipstick, I bought another siphon kit, the original had...
So initially oil ash mass seems way too high,
There is a limit you can view in the same measuring values
My CXGB engine was 110g limit and I was around 90.
I was told the only way to clean the ash level was a DPF off and flush.
If you have had a bad injector previously producing a lot of...
Someone will correct or confirm but I am sure the drivers side should have oil coming out, unless you jacked it high enough so no oil came out. The passenger side is a flange.
Saying that, I’m not sure if there is a seal on the drivers side which would mean it is dry. Have you checked the gear...
I have to admit, i found the same when i changed mine a few weeks ago, i had a mare and had to drain some out so dont really know how much i put in, how many litres do you put in to avoid the reduce oillevel warning?
Hey again @mmi. So I've borrowed VCDS and have a log! What I've noticed is that the oil temperature always seems perfectly fine. However, the oil fill level I noticed was constantly jumping up to 120mm. I started logging and went for a drive and then eventually it only reads 120mm and then the...
Hi all,
I bought a 2016 T6 204 4motion privately last year. It’s currently on 64k miles and has had an oil change every year according to its history.
Having read a few of the threads on the CXEB problems I started to get a bit worried so did a Millers oil analysis. I’ve not noticed the van...
Just had the same issue away. My VW T6 still under warranty so called AA as VW not available. They dropped about 3/4 L of oil out of wngine as it was at top of dip stick. 65 miles later same happened again and the level was high again. VW assist came out this time and did a series of checks and...
...keep a close eye on my levels so I'm happy enough to ignore it.
Nevertheless, it makes me wonder how many folk have suffered this fault and just happened to have a highoillevel due to slipshod servicing and then went on to add two and two together and come up with "oil dilution" when it...
There is a level sensor, and also sensors that allow pressure relief if the pressure gets too high etc (eg high revs with cold oil). If the ECU sees anything it deems "implausible" it will create a fault code. I personally wouldn't want to mess with the complexity.
Some Bosch A351S Aerotwin wiper blades 'Used - Like New' from Amazon Warehouse (fingers crossed they're legit!), plus a manual oil extractor pump thingy to combat the dreaded and highly annoying 'Oil Level Too High' pain in the rectum warning.
