Fitted a new seal to the driver's side as the old one was rusting through and also fitted my new Ablemail amt12-2. Took me a while to understand how to programme it but got there eventually, not 100% it is working correctly though. My leisure battery is sat full at 13.8v but my starter is now...
2nd recommendation for the Ablemail AMT12-2 here, if you've got a big LiFePO4 battery and/or solar, it's a literal fit and forget option.
My SB never goes below 12.3v now.
Which is why you need a “wild camping” setup. Plenty of solar/lithium/AMT-12. Problem solved. Don’t forget that these are commercial vehicles & were never designed to be campers. If we want them to serve a purpose for which they weren’t designed for, we need to make allowances & adapt them.
There’s a very valid point, I am already considering changing to lithium at the same time as doing the mains as my current LB is about 7/8 years old so can’t have much life left in it.
I know I’ll need to change my DC-to-DC as the D250SA doesn’t support lithium. Probably go with a victron one...
Get yourself an Ablemail AMT12-2 to top up the starter battery gently from the Leisure battery. Easy to fit, £60 odd quid, end of starter battery anxiety!
As per title of the thread, I would like to know ways that I can check if my Ablemail AMT-12 tricle charger is working properly, as I have a very strong feeling its not.
As regards my system, I have one of the BMT12 devices fitted to the starter, and can also see the starter batter on my...
I’ve fitted the Ablemail AMT12 that arrived in the post today. The last one was broken, but not discovered until testing after it was installed. I sent it back for testing and replacement but Royal Mail lost it. I’ve made a claim but they want 30 days to process the claim. I called after 6...
...goes below 12.3v as long as LB is over 13v. Default setting 4.
I have a 12 month old Bosch 95Ah starter battery. Engine switched off at 5pm yesterday. 0.1v seems like a normal SB drop to me.
Get an Ablemail AMT12-2 is my advice!
Plot shows midnight last night to 8pm tonight. Van not driven...
Second the AMT-12 if you already have solar fitted on the leisure side.
For direct maintenance I believe 50mA is the threshold for a fault code for the van's ECUs drawing too much current when fully asleep, so using that as a worst case that's potentially 1.2Ah (24 x 0.05) of capacity from the...
Something like this in red and black for the ATM to DC-DC:
3mm2 PVC Cable
And 2 of these at an appropriate length for the Orion neg to chassis (you’ll cut one end off to go in the Orion):
10mm2 battery leads
Keep the AMT close to the Orion to minimise cable length. If you want to have the...
Shopping list looks good. You don’t need switches but can be useful for managing the system and/or for maintenance. One in the cable between the Orion Pos Out and AMT Leisure Pos allows you to turn the AMT on/off - needs to be >3A capable.
You can also put one in the green plug of the Orion to...
Thanks Roadtripper. After looking around I’ve taken the plunge on the Victron. I’ll update the post once it arrives and I get it installed with the Ablemail.
The Victron Orion XS is a current popular choice. You'd need to double check the rating of your wiring as it might not be suitable for the full power draw the Orion is capable of , but you can set the charging rate easily in the Orion via the Victron app.
If you mean "bi-directional" in terms...
Was that a pre-made kit for something? The thin cables will be ok for the AMT once you have crimped the spade connectors that come with the AMT.
The 2 black cables will be ok for the Orion negatives but likely too long and much heavier duty than needed for a short run with an 18A charger...
Paul I'll go down the AMT12-2 root
As advised. I'll have a look around see if electric expert can install one for me.
I wish you lived in my area
i would just blow myself up.
Sorry if i came over as dumb I have 50+years Engineering background in oil and gas industry but these fancy...
