...happening.
There are a number of other boxes so hopefully someone will be able to clarify if my understanding is right.
1. There is a Sargent EC155 - this works as a consumer unit / fuse box - if I switch the charger button on it then works as a charger too.
2. There is a MPPT box that...
...that will be for sale next weekend, I have a few things going up for sale as we have gone a different way with electrics inc. new unused sargent ec155 with water sensors, various contact breakers, a renogy 2000 inverter ect.
will be listing it when im back from our little trip next weekend...
There’s lots of threads on upgrading from lead to lithium.
I put up a thread when I did it and I still use the Sargent EC155
Use the search button on here.
It will answer all your questions
Here’s my thread...
No, the fuse I mention is a 12v fuse - your need to wire the charger in downstream of the 240v RCD and MCB in the Sargent to do it safely.
There shouldn't really be any connections in the cable between the EHU socket and the Sargent, and really it should be under 2m as it's not RCD protected...
...at getting nw electrics in my van now the new units and bed are in. Should I go for a central switch panel or something more modern. I hear a Sargent unit covers all the 12v and mains combined. But they look so dated. Quite fancy a digital panel maybe to control all the 12v switches. What...
Hi.
I'm using a Fogstar 105ah lithium set up. For the first time we're bypassing the Sargent system and on hook up using a victron IP65 Charger. All works with battery fully charged, but Mr Sunt says no with a big fat 0% reading. What am I doing wrong please? Thanks in advance.
Thanks CAB took me a while for the penny to drop that the Sargent not needed to charge, it’s an AGM at the moment, I don’t do much off-grid camping but when it needs replacing will go lithium.
All,
Sorry to jump on this thread, but thought it’d be a good place to store more knowledge / answers.
I had a bit of an issue with my Sargent EC176. Have a feeling I left the inside light on for a week while I was in Spain. Control panel was beeping and showing no display. I’m now charging...

Thanks guys.
I will use 6mm cable for power wires for the 100/30 controller and a 40A fuse for that.
I’m just using the existing wire that comes from the Sargent and think I will just use a 40A for it.
Here’s my fuses in the Sargent. You think a 40A will be big enough?
Doesn’t the red button switch on all mains so if this is left off you won’t get the Sargent mains charger charging the battery but you also won’t be able to use any mains outlets?
...I’m pretty confident i can still run the new cables so they are all hidden behind panels.
It’s the exact same for the cables from the Sargent to the battery. They disappear inside the metal frame. But I can easily run the new cables in behind the kitchen. So should manage to hide the new...
I have a fairly standard new T6 conversion with a solar panel, CTEK 250SE & Sargent EC155 / EC51. It recently started to show a problem.
When I switch the van electrics on via the EC51 control panel, sometimes it comes on perfectly, and sometimes comes on at low voltage (showing 6 -7 volts on a...
