Long Holiday How to Leave Van

In theory they need coding if you’re not swapping like for like. In practice the van will adapt to the new battery in a few charge /discharge cycles.

Alarm not working after flat battery - Help please..!

Hi All, I recently ran the starter battery on my 67 plate T6 pretty flat after leaving the keys in the ignition while fitting new pads & discs. Battery doesn't seem to have any lasting issues but since then the alarm doesn't appear to be working correctly. I initially noticed that the alarm...

HELP PLEASE Multiple error codes after dead battery, won't clear limp mode

Have you told the van it has a new battery through coding or just swapped them over? If the ecu thinks it's the old battery it may be limiting the charge.

    STOP/START ERROR ON DASH PANEL

Not as far as I know. I just swapped it over. I did ask a mechanic about that and he said no it shouldn't need to be coded. Could this be the cause of the stop/stat error? And do they have to be coded to the van?

Upgrading Starter Battery - how to guide

Many thanks. The moll I replaced was EFB so I assume the coding is already right. But will check in the morning.

Can you code in a battery with Carista

Hi @gti_james , welcome to the forum! What symptoms is your starter battery showing? Do you have any gadgetry to display the voltage? Is it suitably charged? Don't forget it is compulsory to post a picture of your van on here, otherwise we simply won't believe you!

    STOP/START ERROR ON DASH PANEL

At least two other things: Technology: i.e. AGM vs others (charge voltages ARE different). Serial Number: it needs only to be different. A different SN will tell the ECU that it is a new battery and the learning phase will be easier and shorter. I suspect that there are others too i.e. EFB...

    STOP/START ERROR ON DASH PANEL

Yes, the battery "should" be coded. Yes the ECU slowly will "learn" that you have a new battery and will adapt. But still thinking that you have a battery with the characterics that are currently coded in. I particular, if your battery is really different (i.e. AGM vs EFB or plain Lead Acid)...

HVAC / Recirc clicking after battery died.

Hi folks, Battery died when I was away on my 2016 VW startline. Had bizarre symptoms including doors locked shut and a bunch of blown fuses on the leisure battery side but fixed those with fresh fuses and resetting the codes after installing the new battery. Apart from the clicking. It...

Can you say exactly which parameter/control unit did you change? I do not have Facebook so the link in the next post is no good for me. Thanks

Long Holiday How to Leave Van

My advice would be to buy the battery online from Tanya Batteries and pay a local garage no more than an hours labour to install and code. Hopefully you aren’t using the garage that quoted you £425 on a regular basis, I don’t know how they have the balls to come up with figures like that.

    Bosch S5A 13

HI, I've just bought a new start / stop battery for my T6 to replace the original (2018) battery. I got my local garage to fit the battery beacuse as far as i know it needs coding for the start / stop to work. The battery is fitted, but here was no BEM code or QR code on the battery. I've tried...

    OBDeleven and SOS restricted “workshop”

Hi everyone. I’ve read around a lot and I know this has been covered a lot. I’ve got the sos restricted workshop fault up. It came on after I had to jump start it last week. Battery struggling all week so I had a new one fitted today by AA. The tech checked for fault codes and couldn’t clear...

    Slight starting issue

So I can put a new battery on and maybe code later or let it sort itself out. Got in the van this morning and was dead on the first turn of the key and then turned slowly on the second try. At Halfords now for the battery health check and if they confirm battery fault I’m going to go to the...

The Bosch code is VAO and I coded mine with Carista. Change the serial number by 1 digit. Jobsagoodun.

Can starter Battery be set to fully charge?

If you are opening and closing doors all of this causes various modules to switch on - and these can be surprisingly power hungry and may well drag down a decent battery to the voltages you describe. Our brand new TGE (aka a Crafter) exhibits this behaviour as well as the low voltage - but it...

    T6.1 SOS fault.

had the same SOS message on dash -T6.1 2021 ,found a battery on Ebay for £85 .replaced the old one and then cleared telematics faults with VCDS . sos message did not cleared on first two attempts -I suspect the new battery needs about 20 minutes to reach 90% charge .did not code anything ,just...

    New Starter Battery dead already

Hi Guys, I've sold my van and just before I did this I decided to get the starter battery changed just for good measure. The original battery was working fine before it was removed and it never drained much when sitting. The spec of the new battery was slightly different and it was booked in...
